USCIS Reaches H-2B Cap for First Half of FY 2021

U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services announced on November 18, 2020, that it had reach the 33,000 cap for H-2B visa issuance for the first half of the 2021 Fiscal Year. The federal government fiscal year runs from October 1st to September 30th each year. Congress has restricted the total number of new H-2B visas issued each year to 66,000 with half being issued in the first half of the fiscal year and the remaining half being issued in the second half of the fiscal year. The H-2B visa is a temporary non-agricultural work visa used for seasonal and temporary workers. The visa can be used for both skilled and unskilled labor. The visa is often used by hospitality workers, chefs, hotel employees, theme park and cruise ship workers, construction workers and related industries.
